The Diaphragm and singing
The Diaphragm is known as the power tool the power source for singing,The diaphragm is a large muscle positioned at the bottom of
the rib cage, it separates the lower organs from the upper organs within the
human body (Gerson, 2012). The diaphragm flattens (deflates) drawing oxygen into the lungs
then expands (inflates) as it releases the oxygen, for a vocalist to sing
better there is a technique to using the diaphragm , the vocalist must learn to
structure the flow of air by
inhaling prior to singing so the diaphragm is in a flattened position , then controlling
the release of air, by doing this the vocalist can sing in tune and hold the notes longer if required, leading on to an
overall stronger performance.
